Garvey progress with 12 shots win in the NIBA Senior Cup

Lisnagarvey have not been going well in the League but they have progressed in two Senior Cup ties.

They won their first round IBA Senior Cup tie away to Castle with some ease and play Ewarts tomorrow (Saturday) in the second round.

On Wednesday night they progressed to the quarter finals of the NIBA Senior Cup with a 12 shots win away to Lurgan. They travel to Banbridge or Dungannon on Wednesday, June 15.

Cup win but League defeat

Lisnagarvey B went into Saturday’s NIBA Division 4 match hopeful of following up the midweek Cup win with more points, but they only managed one.

Two fours put Alton Reid 14-4 ahead at the tenth and he added another four on the way to a 24-8 lead at 15 ends before getting a 12 shots win.

Down 7-10 at the tenth and 10-14 at 15 ends Denis Rankin lost by four shots.

Down 7-8 at the tenth Ken Armstrong was still close at 15 ends but lost by 12 shots.

At the tenth Jim Chapman was 8-12 down and it stayed much the same when Garvey lost by three shots.

Lisnagarvey B moved into the quarter finals of the NIBA Junior Cup where they will play either Curran B or Castle B, with an easy 32 shots nwin over Donaghadee B on Wednesday night.

It was a one sided affair with only Alton Reid being held to a tie and Jim Chapman coming back well to win.

Malone disappointed

Malone had been hoping to collect some points at home to Ballymena C in Private Greens Division 4 but they failed to get off the mark.

Terry Monro had probably the best chance but lost the last two ends to go down by eight shots.
