In an intriguing game there was only a shot difference at 10 and 15 ends before Sydenham edged it in the end.

Hilden had only one winner and it was left to Colin Montgomery to prop them up for most of the game, but they could not find the final surge which could have taken them to victory.

Montgomery lifted four and three early on to lead 13-3 at the tenth and another four gave him a 21-4 lead at 15 ends. In the end though Sydenham came back to narrow the gap to 15 shots.

Despite lifting an early three Keith Morrison was 5-16 down at the tenth and 10-18 at 15 ends before losing by ten shots.
