The Primary School teams geared up for an enjoyable netball tournament at Lisnagarvey HS.

THE annual primary schools netball tournament took place in Lisnagarvey High School on Friday February 1.

In total 13 teams took part in what was an exciting, competitive and fun-filled afternoon.

Some impressive netball skills were shown throughout the tournament by several pupils but the most impressive girl, who won player of the tournament, was Blythe Gill from Riverdale Primary School. Blythe was very dominant on the centre of the court for her team and she was able to pass and intercept a lot of balls to help her team to the semi-finals, where they were beaten by Pond Park.

In the other semi final, Moira (1) played Moira (2), with Moira (2) coming out on top as winners. This left it that Pond Park played Moira (2) in what turned out to be a highly exciting final. The scores were even at 1-1 when the final whistle was blown meaning that the final had to be decided on the next team that scored. Pond Park and Moira (2) both played some impressive netball which had the crowd and supporters jumping and screaming with anticipation but Pond Park managed to score that winning goal which saw them regain their title from last year and take the primary schools netball trophy home with them for the second year running.
