The local indoor bowling league may have a new name, the Kennedy Fuels League, but it is the same old story with Ballinderry winning both League and Cup.

They have won the League 26 times in past 27 years and 27 times in all.

That is a record unlikely ever to be beaten. They also won the Lisburn Zone Charity Cup for the fourth time, having previously won the JC Patterson Cup on 17 occasions.

There was a change this season with Killaney taking runners-up spot, ahead of Hillsborough Social, who made a bad start to the season.

At the other end of the table, Priesthill Methodist showed early indications of going down, but recovered in style and it was left to Derriaghy, Annahilt Parish and Pond Park to battle against relegation, with the latter two losing out.

St Paul’s had a good season, Soldierstown were reasonably secure and Hilden performed well.

SECTION B

Eglantine looked likely champions from early on and in the end they won the one promotion spot with ease on 99 points.

Sloan Street finished as runners-up with St Joseph’s and Aghagallon completing the top four.

But with three teams relegated this time due to re-organisation in the League there was a real scrap for the remaining teams with St Colman’s Lambeg and St Mark’s moving out of danger in the closing weeks.

But, it needed a Rock win in their last game to send Lambeg Parish, St Clare’s and St Matthew’ Broomhedge down.

SECTION C

Seymour Hill have flattered to deceive over recent years, but they made the move up to Section B this time with something to spare over Suffolk, who took second place on shot difference from Royal British Legion.
