Weather forecast cancels matches
The Cryptic message on the Lisburn Youth League website said it all; “All matches on Lisburn grass pitches cancelled due to weather forecast.”
It is not often the forecast has a say in matches being played and when the weather failed to turn out as bad as predicted Lisburn officialdom was left with “egg on their faces”.
All Belfast matches were played on a very wet day and two Lisburn Youth League matches survived - one of them in Newcastle.
A disappointing day for local footballers, but hopefully lessons are learned and decisions made according to conditions on the day.
