Tommy Kincaid’s men have moved up the Championship One table to fifth place, and the Whites boss says that promotion is an ‘obvious ambition’.

However, Kincaid was keen to point out that he and his men would be ‘taking it one game at a time’.

“We’re going well,” Kincaid commented. “You just never know when your next defeat will be so you can’t get too carried away.

“At the start of the season we were playing well and just weren’t getting the rub of the green. We’re getting that luck now and I’m glad it’s turned around,” Kincaid added.

“The guys have great character and the atmosphere in the dressing room is really good, there’s a bit of banter but they are very serious about their football.

“We’ve got a good bunch of guys together, and that lends itself to good results.”

Kincaid continued: “We’ve now got a couple of players for each position, which we didn’t have last year. We’ve players on the bench who we can swap like for like. Marty Jones came on on Saturday and proved that, scoring two goals. That’s what you really need.”

Talking about the prospect of promotion, Kincaid commented: “At the end of the day if we finish in the top 4 we’ll have had a good season. It is our obvious ambition to get promotion and anyone who says differently is telling a lie, but it’s going to be hard. I’m going to be really boring and say we’re going to take it one game at a time.”

In a departure from the league, the Whites have two back to back cup matches ahead, with their fourth round Irish Cup match at home to Crumlin Star tomorrow (Saturday), with kick off at the earlier time of 1.30pm.

“They are a good side, it will be a hard game for us,” Kincaid said. “But at the end of the day, it’ll also be hard for them.

“If we treat them with anything but the utmost respect then we will be in trouble.

“It would be nice for the club to get to the next round and have a cup run, but for now we have to worry about Crumlin.”
