Councillor Alan Carlisle, Vice-Chair of the Council’s Leisure Services Committee, who attended the last day of the soccer school, said: “It was great to have the opportunity to watch this enthusiastic group of young people both play matches and practice their dribbling and penalty kick skills. The camaraderie of the participants was second to none and the cheers of support from the player’s peers was deafening at times.

“I would like to commend the Irish Football Association for organising this soccer school and for sourcing goodie bags from Nutty Krust. I understand that all three IFA Summer Soccer schools held in the Lisburn area, Laurelhill Community College, Brook Activity Centre and Moira Demesne, were very well attended and all the young people left each day with a smile.

“The quality of the coaching staff present was high and appreciated by both the young people and their parents. Keep up the good work Phil and I am sure all the young people will agree that we would like to see these IFA soccer summer schools take place again next year,” concluded Councillor Carlisle.
