U12

This week was the turn of Cliftonville to take on Lisburn Youth at the Rec. The Belfast team put pressure on early but the Lisburn defence battled well and restricted the visitors to long range shots. Youth soon settled down and played some nice football. They were rewarded on 12 minutes with a stunning solo effort from Aaron Taci. The Orange and Blacks began to play with confidence and Aaron Taci scored his second. The Second half saw an early Cliftonville attack end with an outstanding save from Lisburn’s Adam Young. Chris Gill made it 3 nil and wrapped the game up for the Lisburn side.

The first round of the Shield saw a rampant Lisburn Youth fly out of the blocks at Drumbo on Saturday morning going 3-0 up after six minutes, with goals from Ross Hunter (2) and David Faulkner. Hunter added his third and Lisburn’s fourth five minutes later with a fine free kick.

The second half saw Adam Donnelly also get in on the act. After this it became the Ross Hunter show. Clinical finishing to say the least. Free kicks, headers, both feet, scoring all sorts of goals. A magnificent cross from Justin Devlin layed him on for his double hat trick after he powerfully headed home from six yards. He didn’t stop there as he went on to claim a Triple Hat trick (9) in a master class display of finishing. Greenisland got a late consolation goal.

U14

Lisburn Youth U14′’s entertained North End in the first round of the Shield on Saturday. Lisburn started the brighter of the two teams, and were a goal up after five minutes when Lewis Parker fired into the roof of the net. Lisburn continued to pass the ball well and they got their reward. Captain Chris Turtle beat two North End players before scoring from a near impossible angle from the byline.

In the second half Lisburn were slow out of the blocks, and North End scored a wonder goal from 40 yards to make it 2-1. North End equalised with 20 minutes to play. This kicked Lisburn into life again and they went ahead when the ball fell to Curtis Ross inside the box. As North End pressed for an equaliser Lisburn scored their fourth through captain Turtle.
