Wee Whites

Lisburn Distillery Under 9’s played Aquinas last weekend with goals from Ross Hawthorne and Kevin Flynn who was up playing from the Under 8’s. It was a great display from the boys with Reece Taggart and Ben Bonar playing well in defence making some great challenges and Charlie Fenton in nets making more great saves.

Midfielders Scott Taggart, Jay Hawthorne and Brandon Wrignht all played well. This team is progressing well thanks to the continuous work of the coaches.

The Whites Under 10’s played Aquino in a nail biting game, with Reece McKeown in nets. There were goals from Jake Clarke, Jackson Brown, Dee Dee Rafferty, Jake Hull, Mason and Michael Rocks. It was an all round team performance and exciting game, with Jacob Walker doing his job on the line. It was the seasons best game to date. This team is improving as the weeks go by. Thanks to the coaches for their hard work.

Lisburn Youth

Academy

Due to one team dropping out, Lisburn Youth faced two teams instead of just facing Crumlin. The first half was against a well worked Hillsborough team which made Youth focus on their defending but their second half against Crumlin allowed them to play their own football. This saw a great display of attacking and pressure from Youth. The only thing the boys were frustrated about was their finishing. However, the coach was happy to see how they created these chances.

U10

Lisburn Youth faced their toughest test against a well organised Clonduff side at Lough Moss on Saturday morning.

Lisburn Youth made changes ahead of the game with Ryan Carlo coming in at number one, Matty Porter resuming his ever impressive slot in the centre of defence, Bradley Allen and James McAlister also coming back into the starting line up.

Lisburn Youth started the first period very slowly and found it hard to take control of the midfield.

Despite the early Clonduff pressure Lisburn Youth were still able to create attacks of their own. Chances fell for both teams during the first period as Clonduff continued to force Ryan Carlo into action, and Bradley Allen showed his deadly touch and vision in front of goal.

During the first interval Lisburn Youth re-shuffled their pack which proved more effective. Lisburn looked more settled during this period, passes were finding feet and spaces were starting to open up as Lisburn gained momentum.

Clonduff were still able to create chances despite Lisburn Youth taking control of midfield, and we’re thankful for Ryan Carlo when called upon. Ryan’s double save showed his great potential as he denied Clonduff in quick succession. T

The third and final period Lisburn Youth started to see more of the ball than their opponents. Going forward Lisburn Youth always looked a threat especially from Noah Bickerstaff’s pace and driving runs. His finish had to be pick of the bunch with a curling left foot strike bending into the top corner hitting the post on the way in. But also the back line led by Mathew Porter impressed. A great game of football played out by both sides with some great technical ability on show, both attacking and defending. Onwards and upward for Lisburn as next Saturday Lisburn Youth face Dungoyne at Lough Moss centre with a 9.30am kick off.

U12

Lisburn Youth took on TW Braga at noon last Saturday. They put last week’s commiserations behind them and put on a prolific performance. from the kick off they piled on the pressure but to no reward as the Braga keeper and the woodwork kept the score even. The deadlock was broke on 15 minutes as Travis MacFarlane scored from close range following a corner for his first of a first half brace. The Orange and Blacks continued to play great football and were rewarded with more first half goals from Dillon Sinnerton, Aaron Taci and an absolute fantastic finish from James Morgan. The second half followed suit with the locals keeping their discipline and producing a great team performance. Rahim Date showed great composure while completing an impressive second half hat-trick. Joel Price and a Braga own goal also added goals for Lisburn. TW Braga never gave up and near the final whistle they were rewarded with a goal from a corner. Next week Lisburn Youth take on Cliftonville, 11am at the Rec.
