The Echlinville Distillery was the first licensed distillery in Northern Ireland in more than 125 years when it received its license to distil in 2013.

In what will be a momentous year for Echlinville, its single estate spirit will officially become Irish whiskey in a few months’ time.

Lisburn Distillery Director Terry Thompson said; “We are delighted that The Echlinville Distillery is supporting us for the forthcoming season.

“It’s remarkable that almost eighty years after Dunville’s Whiskey ceased being produced that we have a distillery, with links to Dunville’s, sponsoring us once again. We have followed the Echlinville story now for several years and seen at first-hand the fantastic progress and success that Shane and his team have made and had in that time.

“This is the beginning of a special time for them and I thank them sincerely on behalf of the club and our supporters for sponsoring us.

“It is great that a Northern Ireland business is enjoying success after all its hard work. We look forward to a successful partnership and working with The Echlinville Distillery in the future.”

Shane Braniff, owner of The Echlinville Distillery added; “We are looking forward to a successful season with the Distillery Football team.

“This is the perfect opportunity to pay tribute to Dunville’s Irish Whiskey, a brand we were delighted to acquire in recent years.

“Known to be one of the largest exports of its time we had a lot to live up to when taking on such an iconic brand,” he said.

“Having since gained worldwide recognition for our first release under the Dunville’s name; Dunville’s PX Best Irish Single Malt 12 Years and under in the World Whiskey Awards 2015 & 2016 we are proud to move the Dunville’s name forward while re-establishing links to its past.”
