Harmony Hill girls retain the Reid Cup

Last Wednesday Pond Park, Harmony Hill, Killowen and Ballymacash Primary School girls’ football teams competed for the title of the top primary school girls football team.

Sixteen schools had entered the tournament and each of the local teams won their group, giving them the right to attend finals day.

The standard of the football was superb with only one goal separating any of the teams in the matches – but in the end the trophy returned to Harmony Hill.

This is the third year of the Reid Cup – a competition organised by Ballymacash Primary School for primary school girls.

It is based at the North Lisburn MUGA and has certainly raised the profile of girls’ primary school soccer.

Special mention to Mrs Bernie Reid for all her work in organising the tournament.
