Cup fever grips Distillery Academy

CUP fever gripped the Lisburn Distillery Academy last weekend and the optimism wasn’t misplaced as all the participating teams progressed to next round of their respective competitions.

The U-16s efforts to make the final of the cup after unluckily losing out in the Shield semi-final started with a 3-1 victory over Grosvenor, Rhys Grainger with two and Chris Walmsey getting the goals. The U-11s defeated Craigavon City 2-1 Jordan Tait and Jason Scott the goalscorers in this one. In their bid to make it a second successive Lisburn League treble the U-15s had a narrow 2-1 win over Greenisland, Peter Freelands brace was enough to see The Wee Whites through to the next round. In the U-14 section two Leon Young goals and a strike from man-of-the-match Tyler Guy was enough to see Distillery progress at the expense of local rivals Hillsborough, the U-13s also beat Hillsborough 6-0. Arty storeys U-12s were down to the bare minimum eleven players due to injuries but still had too much in the locker for National League side Glendowan, Michael Upritchard and Jamie Hamilton with two apiece getting the goals in a 4-1 victory in the N.I.B.F.A cup.
