Carniny Youth up to the mark with IFA excellence award

The award - which was presented by the IFA’s Club Excellence Mark Coordinator, Diarmuid O’Carroll - is a football specific accreditation scheme which clubs can embark on to try to improve the way their clubs are run.

The FFA Club Excellence Mark is a strand of the Irish FA’s club and volunteer capacity building programme which forms part of a Sport in the Community programme, a partnership with Ulster Rugby and Ulster GAA with support from the Department for Social Development (DSD).

Carniny Amateur and Youth FC is a community orientated club that have demonstrated a commitment to best practice in the running of their football club.

The focus is on club governance, duty of care, games & coaching development and community outreach and in achieving the 1-star level of IFA’s Club Mark Carniny Have shown a dedication to best practice in all of these areas.

Whilst the Under 10s wrapped up there season with their final games in the NWCDYL last Saturday, the majority of the club teams will be taking a short break before four of the club’s sides will begin preparations for this summer’s Foyle Cup with the Under 10s, 11s, 13s and 17s all taking part.

UNDER-10

Carniny Amateurs 6, Institute 4: In their final outing of the season, Leon Graham produced a five-star performance with five of his side’s six goals at Ballysally, while Adam Douglas was also on target for the Reds.

Carniny Youth 3, Roe Valley 4: Carniny took a deserved lead when a long clearance from Adam Tweed sent Luis White clear and he slotted the ball past the keeper

Roe Valley then settled into the game and scored four without reply to go into a 4-1 lead

Carniny eventually gained a foothold on the game and they pulled a goal back when good work down the right from Joel Murray saw him play White in again and he sent a great shot into the roof of the net.

Carniny continued to press and Cameron Moody scored an absolute screamer by sending a great shot into the top corner but they were unable to fashion an equaliser.

FOYLE CUP OPPORTUNITIES

Carniny Amateur & Youth FC Under 17s will be taking part in the prestigious Foyle Cup youth tournament in the North West this summer.

Prospective players they will be looking for are those born in 1998/1999 and anyone interested should contact Ian on 07721596775 or Billy on 07850669666 sooner rather than later.

The 17s will be joined by the club’s 10s, 11s and 13s at this year’s competition.
