Classic TT: Michael Dunlop fastest again as Bruce Anstey finally completes first laps

Michael Dunlop topped the Superbike and Junior time sheets on the third night of practice at the Classic TT on the Isle of Man on Wednesday..

New Zealand’s Bruce Anstey also finally completed his first laps of practice week, setting the fastest time in the Sure Lightweight class on the Padgetts RS250 Honda.

Dunlop fired in two laps on the Team Classic Suzuki XR69 as he held station at the top of the Classic Superbike times for the third successive evening.

He established the fastest lap of practice week so far at 123.236mph on his second lap in glorious sunshine.

Michael Rutter was second fastest on Roger Winfield’s Harris Yamaha at 122.337mph followed by Lincolnshire’s Ivan Lintin on the Devitt RC Express Kawasaki (122.089mph).

Dean Harrison (Silicone Engineering Kawasaki) and James Hillier (Greenall Kawasaki) also lapped at more than 122mph on their ZXR750 machines in the Superbike class to set their fastest laps of the week so far.

Anstey, who failed to get a lap in on the Padgetts Yamaha YZR500, led the Lightweight leaderboard with a speed of 113.776mph.

Ian Lougher, fastest on the LayLaw Yamaha on Monday and Tuesday, retired at Braddan Bridge on his opening lap.

In the Junior class, Dunlop roared around on the 350cc Black Eagle Racing MV Agusta at 102.082mph to lead Jamie Coward (Ted Woof Honda) who lapped at 101.64mph. William Dunlop was third quickest on the Davies Motorsport Honda at 100.977mph.

Following a short delay after a red-flag incident at Creg-ny-Baa, Ramsey’s Conor Cummins headed the Senior times on the Winfield Paton at 107.199mph from Maria Costello (Buegger Paton) at 105.004mph.

Manxman Andrew Dudgeon set the pace in the Manx Grand Prix Senior and Junior classes at 117.824mph, with fellow Isle of Man rider Michael Evans fastest of the newcomers again (112.591mph).

Ben Wylie was reported as off but unhurt at Laurel Bank in the Superbike session while Tom Snow was also uninjured after crashing at the Nook.
