On Saturday 13 April, the wind raised its head and blew strongly all day, wreaking havoc for golfers at Rockmount Golf Club.

Despite this, the scoring in the Trotter and Reid Four Ball Better Ball competition was very good.

Jon D’Arcy and Maurice Wilkinson blew the field away with an exceptional score of 44 points.

The nearest challengers were Simon Gray and Colin McClenaghan who scored 42 points. Third place went to Connor Drummond and Warren Burnside who scored 41 points, beating brothers Ryan and Reece Wilson with the same score into fourth.

Fifth place was won by Brian Heading and Alan Young with 40 points.

On Thursday 10 April, the JB Carr team led by Frank Wallace welcomed Carnalea Golf Club to Rockmount. Out first, Ronnie and Roy Cole had a very tough tussle with their Carnalea opponents and eventually won on the first extra hole.

Elder statesman Paddy Lawlor partnered Bob Jellie in the second match and ran out five and four winners. John McGrath and Al McCune paired up for the third match. That combination proved too strong for their Carnalea opponents as John and Al won their match six and four.

With the overall match result decided, the remaining two matches were called in. Gavin Martin and Andy Mearns were two up at the time and Frank Wallace and Mark Kyle were all square.

The team Captains agreed the match result would be 4–1 to Lisburn.

On Sunday 13 April, the Ulster Four Ball team, led by Brendan Houston, got their 2014 campaign under way with a solid 5-0 win over Cushendall Golf Club at Rockmount.

Also in action on Super-Sunday were the Holt Shield team playing against Castlereagh Hills Golf Club.

They had a very tight contest but wins by Ryan Wilson, Mark Wynn and Darren McCleery saw them through to a 3–2 win. The unfortunate losers were Vice Captain Eddie Donaldson who lost on the last green and Reece McKeown.

The Ulster Cup team were also playing against Dunfanaghy Golf Club.

They will take a much needed 6–1 lead into the away leg at Dunfanaghy along with a 16 hole advantage. Paul Mearns won five and four, Martin Lawther won three and one, Colin Childs won five and three, Gordon Goodfellow won five and four, Frank Wallace won two up and Michael Carson won three and two.

The unfortunate man to lose was Gary McShane playing against former member, Brian Gilfeder.
