LISBURN Distillery suffered an agonising penalty kick exit in the Co-operative Cup at Coleraine on Tuesday night.
The Whites held their one goal advantage from the first leg until 60 minutes into the tie when Coleraine striker Rory Patterson levelled matters. His shoot took a deflection to beat goalkeeper Phil Matthews.
It remained deadlocked after 90 minutes and extra-time which meant the dreaded penalty kick decider. Coleraine held their nerve to win 5-4 with Distillery's Neal Gawley missing his spot kick.
Manager Tommy Wright predicted his side would need to score a goal if they had a chance to progress and he was proved right, but his team battled hard and can feel hard done by.
Coleraine will now go on to face Cliftonville on Saturday in the next round.
