THE Irish Premiership failed to get off and running for the second week in a row - this week beaten by the weather.
Last week football was ruled out because of a referees's strike, but Saturday's torrential downpour hit football once again.

The referee decides to call off the Lisburn Distillery game at Ballymena.
Lisburn Distillery did not get to kick a ball at Ballymena, their match at The Showgrounds called off ten minutes before the start.

Linfield and Cliftonville did start at Windsor Park even though the pitch had a lot of surface water. Jamie Mulgrew gave Linfield the lead but the referee rightly called the teams in on 32 minutes.
"I have to say it was the worst conditions I have ever seen in all my time in football," said Linfield boss David Jeffrey. "I don't think any pitch in the world could have survived the amount of rain that fell."
No surprise cricket had another washout to mull over, but in a wet summer it is something they are now all too familiar with.
Lisburn Distillery and Linfield are scheduled to begin the season on Tuesday night with home ties in the Co Antrim Shield, but if the rain continues even those games must be in doubt.
