LINFIELD boss David Jeffrey declared the title race is 'over' after his side defeated Glenavon at Mourneview Park on Saturday.
The Blues have three points and a plus seven goal advantage over nearest rivals Glentoran going into the final game next weekend at Crusaders.
"It's over," said Jeffrey. "It would take a massive collapse on our part now and I cannot see than happening. We still have to cross the line but we are more or less there.
"This was an important game given that Glentoran won on Friday night and we
responded superbly. It was a comprehensive victory and much, much better than our last two performances. I'm thrilled and delighted for everyone at the club."

Glenavon had made a bright start to the game with Trevor Malloy going close with a shot from 30 yards. There was a narrow escape for Alan Mannus from a corner, he failed to gather the ball which was held up in a strong wind, the ball seeming to hang right on the line before the Linfield keeper managed to scoop it away.

On 15 minutes the Blues took the lead, good work on the far side by Jamie Mulgrew just kept the ball in play and his cross to the back post was met by Oran Kearney and his arrowed header flew into the top corner of the net.

That goal settled and lifted the Blues and they really never looked back. Despite created a host of chances they could only add one more when Peter Thompson headed home from close range after good work by Paul McAreavey.

With the CIS Cup and the league title won, the treble is now on.
