TEENAGE rider Davy Haire made his debut on Saturday during the Metzeler National Superstock 600 Championship at Oulton Park, on board his own DHR Racing Suzuki.
The Lisburn rider was more than delighted to finish the race which was held on Saturday, due to the tight schedule and the delayed start to race day on Sunday, due to restrictions because of a neighbouring church.
Just a few weeks ago at Snetterto
n, Haire who started the season riding for the Vanfit team, initially was left without a ride, just before that race and was handed a lifeline at the last minute in a one of ride, but since that he has managed to secure a Superstock 600 Suzuki which he will contest the remaining rounds of the Championship in his own colours.

In the race Haire was slightly disappointed to just miss out on a points scoring placing in 16th place, but his hopeful that will a bit more work and by the next round he will be more familiar with the bike, that he will be able to get back into the points and be mixing it at the top of the field with his fellow Irish competitors Lee Johnston, who is now leading the Championship and Jamie Hamilton and Nikki Coates.
Moving up to the Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Championship and Moira's Ian Lowry continued to produce podium pace on his Relentless by TAS Suzuki, when he eventually made it onto the last podium step on Sunday. He was initially up in third place but after about six laps he dropped back, but with four laps remaining he was able to re-ignite his early on pace, to retake the third place, but had left it too late to mount a challenge for second place. The third place behind race winner Glen Richards and second placed Hudson Kennaugh, keeps him firmly in third place in the Championship, 21 points behind Kennaugh in second place. Richards is a further 25 points ahead. But with another 125 maximum points still available the Championship win is still not totally out of Lowry's grasp, so he will be hoping to make it further up the podium in three weeks time at Knockhill.
Last but not least was the youngest of the three riders in action at the weekend. Lisburn's 15 year-old-Stuart Elwood, who on board his Stuart Elwood Racing Honda, just broke into the top 20 to take his second best finished this season, finishing 20th overall in the Relentless British 125GP Championship and ninth in the ACU Academy Cup race. In just his first year in British Championship racing Elwood is now lying in 12th place in the Academy Cup race, despite missing a few rounds when he was ruled out with a broken collarbone.
All three riders are now looking forward to the next round at Knockhill on the 10th August for what will be more or less their home round this year, with the normal round at Mondello Park having been taken off the calendar this season.
