In recognition of obtaining a UEFA Club Licence, each of the six clubs received a cheque for £3,000; while each of the 14 clubs who were presented with a Domestic Club Licence received a cheque for £1,000. This was to assist with the financial demands of obtaining the licences.
The clubs were assessed in five key areas namely Sporting, Infrastructure, Personnel and Administration, Legal and Financial.
The six clubs which attained UEFA Club Licences were: Ballymena United; Cliftonville; Glentoran; Linfield; Lisburn Distillery; Portadown.
The 14 clubs which attained Domestic Club Licences were: Ballymena United; Bangor; Cliftonville; (Donegal Celtic Park, Suffolk Road, Belfast) Coleraine; Crusaders; Donegal Celtic; Dungannon Swifts; Glenavon; Glentoran; Institute; Linfield; Lisburn Distillery; Newry City and Portadown.
David McVeigh, IFA Club licensing and Facilities Manager said: "The club licensing scheme, both for UEFA and Domestic competition, continues to play an integral part of our future plans for club development. A number of the licensing principles have formed the basis of our work in the establishment of the new league structure within Northern Ireland and this shows the relevance of these principles to the improvement of all the aspects of club football".
This is the fifth year the Irish Football Association has awarded Club Licences. The Club Licences are valid for one season.
