FOLLOWING last weekend's blank Saturday Linfield have the chance to begin the defence of the league title with a home victory with Cliftonville the visitors to Windsor Park.
Easier said than done, Cliftonville a huge challenge on the 'opening' day admits manager David Jeffrey.
"Enough has been said about last weekend so we just have to focus on this Saturday and a big test ahead in the form of Cliftonville," said Jeffrey.
"We have the chance to start with a home win, but it will not be easy. We remember the last time we started the season at home to them, they chinned us 3-0. We did recover from that, but we don't want to suffer that blow again. Cliftonville are a very solid team, they work extremely hard and give very little away.
"We are an offensive team, last season we had the best defence and yet still scored the most goals, so we will continue to work along those lines. We have to work hard and try and break teams down, being positive is the best way to win games and hopefully we can get off to a winning start.
"There was some talk we might have been playing at Distillery on Tuesday night, I'm glad that didn't happen, waiting until this Saturday was the better option."
