Underground cable work

Northern Ireland Electricity Networks (NIE Networks) has started work on an underground cable project in Lisburn.

The project involves installing high voltage underground electricity cables along the Brokerstown Road and Lough Road to connect around 25MW of solar PV farms to a major substation in the city.

The first phase of work will affect Brokerstown Road for eight weeks. Diversions will be in place via Ballymacash Road, Prince William Road and Knockmore Road. NIE Networks will also be working on Lough Road for ten weeks with diversions in place via A26 Moira Road and A30 Lisburn Road.

An NIE Networks spokesperson said that while this work could cause some disruption, NIE Networks and its contractors would endeavour to minimise this as much as possible.
