Sinn Féin has selected Mary Kate Quinn to stand for election in the Killultagh District Electoral Area for the new ‘supercouncil’.
Mary Kate said: “As a republican woman I believe I have an affinity with those in the community young and old who feel marginalized and undervalued.
“Often the very same people are the lynch pins of their family and in turn the broader community.
“Bringing their insights and experiences to the issues which affect our communities is critical in creating policies which in turn are a benefit to all.
“In particular I want to reach out to the elderly. They have made a massive contribution to this community and society in general.”
She said it is intolerable that many of them are living lives dominated by fear, isolation and poverty.
