Ordination at St Paul’s

St Paul’s Parish Church in Lisburn was full to capacity on the evening of Sunday, December 8 for the ordination to the priesthood of Stephen McWhirter.

Stephen was joined on the night by his wife Jen, who is also ordained, his daughter Harvest and many other family and friends.

Stephen was ordained by the Rt Rev Alan Abernethy, Bishop of Connor, and the preacher was the Most Rev David Chillingworth, Bishop of St Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane and Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church, with whom Stephen served for a year in Seagoe
Parish.

Following the service the congregation was treated to supper prepared by ladies of the parish.

Speaking after the service the Rev McWhirter said: “I am so pleased so many
people were here tonight to support me and am
very much looking forward to a sacramental ministry among the people of
St Paul’s.”
