unionist unity call goes out in lisburn

January 9, 1987, and, in a joint statement representing their personal views , they said, Lisburn unionists Ronnie Campbell (UUP) and Ivan Davis (DUP) called for unionist unity in the face of international propaganda against Northern ireland and the IRA’s campaign of violence and terrorism.

‘The message is simple,” they said. “Unite on policy or perish.” Failure to stand up and be counted, they said, would be a gross betrayal of those who opposed the Anglo-Irish Agreement.
