Farmers urged to protect turkeys

In December 1971, farmers in Lisburn were being urged to protect their turkeys.

A turkey thief struck in the Knocknadona area and one farmer lost six turkeys.

The police advised local farmers to take steps to prevent their birds from being stolen.

The police also reported a spate of sheep worrying in the Knocknadona area, with dog owners being advised to keep their animals under control.
