Next month’s Wheels4Kris event will be staff’s third static car show in memory of motors enthusiast Kris Niblock, who died suddenly in 2014 at the age of just 20.

In the weeks following Kris’s death, colleague Fiona McVeigh decided to rally staff together in tribute to him and to raise money for two charities in the process.

All money raised from the event will go to Tesco’s two charity partners, Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation.

Organiser Fiona, F&F manager at the Bentrim Road store, said: “Kris was passionate about classic cars and I’m sure he would be absolutely delighted to know that we’re doing this.

“It means a great deal to his family.

“Kris was a very kind and caring young man and it’s fitting that we’re using something he really loved to raise money for our charity partners, Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation.

“We all have a connection to these charities and we want to do all we can to raise funds to help them continue with their fantastic work.

“We hope that people will come along on the night and help us raise money for charity in his memory.”

The first two Wheels4Kris shows raised almost £9,500 for the charities.

The latest event will take place on Sunday (August 7) at 6.30pm in the car park of Tesco at Bentrim Road.

It’s hoped people from across Lisburn and beyond will be showing off their vintage, new and customised cars in memory of Kris.

Money will be raised through donations for exhibiting the cars and there will also be activities for all the family, including raffles, bouncy castles and bungee runs.
