Heroic police rescue from River Lagan

The heroic actions of a local police officer saved the life of a woman in Lisburn on Sunday (June 19).

The police were tasked to the River Lagan at the Civic Centre after receiving reports shortly after 9am of an individual in the water in distress.

Constable Williams acted quickly to rescue the woman, who was then taken to hospital.

Inspector Jim McGrillen confirmed: “Police and other emergency agencies attended a report of a distressed woman at the River Lagan, Lisburn on Sunday, 19 June.

“The woman has been taken to hospital.”

The police thanked everyone who assisted in the rescue, including Civic Centre Staff, Fire and Rescue, and the Ambulance Servcie.
