speaking contest

Samantha Walsh from Wallace High School was a finalist at the 32nd Annual Youth Award Public Speaking Competition with her topic ‘The world would eat, IF…’

The competition which is organised by Soroptimist International and supported by Progressive Building Society, took place at Glenlola Collegiate in Bangor and saw students present a range of topical subjects as diverse as the plastic bag levy, an opt in or opt out system for organ donation and political lobbying.

Pupils who were awarded a place in the top three were presented with a memorial cup, gift and book tokens, with the overall prize 
winner receiving the prestigious Youth Salver, a £250 bursary for educational purposes, a weekend at the Breaffy House Hotel in Co Mayo and a prize fund for their school.
