Update: Big Issue seller wasn't assaulted, police confirm

Police investigating an incident in the city centre during which it was alleged that a woman selling Big Issue magazines had been assaulted have confirmed that 'no crime was committed'.

PSNI Lisburn had posted on their Facebook page that officers were investigating “a hate incident” in the Bow Street area on Wednesday afternoon (September 28) following a report of a Big Issue seller being assaulted by an unknown female.

The page also carried an appeal for witnesses to come forward.

A PSNI spokesman has now confirmed that, following further investigation, officers have determined that no assault took place and “no crime was committed.”
