Watch: Eusébio in Londonderry
The Benfica and Portugal legend visited the Brandywell in 1989 for Derry City’s European Cup tie with the Lisbon giants.
Aldair, Thern, Valdo and company beat Derry City 1 - 2 that day although the Candystripes were robbed as Kevin Brady cleared Benfica’s second off the line.

As it happened Paul Carlyle scored for Derry at the Brandywell and by a strange twist of fate his elder brother Hilary had played alongside Eusébio for the Las Vegas Quicksilvers just over a decade earlier.
Hilary once had to prevent a bust up between Eusébio Pelé in a match against the New York Cosmos in 1977. The Mozambique-born star sadly passed away on Sunday. RIP.
