Three men aged 29, 26 and 23 arrested on suspicion of being involved in a number of burglaries during which three cars were stolen in the early hours of Wednesday morning have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Sgt McIntosh said: “Police initially responded to the report of an abandoned crashed car at the junction of Stewartstown Road and McKinstry Road in West Belfast just after 2.15 am on Wednesday. Following further enquiries, we are linking this incident with three creeper burglaries - two in the Lady Wallace area of Lisburn and the other in the Bristow Park area of the Upper Malone Road.

“While we are investigating a link between these three burglaries and are currently following lines of enquiry, I would appeal to anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the areas or who has any information to contact Police at Lisburn Station on the non-emergency number 101. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
