Suite is officially opened in Moira

THE Bateman Suite was officially opened on Monday at St John’s Moira by Mr Derek Bateman.

The suite was named afer Mr Bateman’s late mother Mrs Maud Bateman by the Select Vestry. The Rt. Rev Harold Miller, Bishop of Down and Dromore was also present and dedicated the building to the glory of God.

The new rector of St John’s Moira, the Rev Joanne Megarrell, spoke of the dedication of the Glebe Wardens, Mr Ken Little and Mr Gerald Dillon. She praised the professionalism of the architect Mr Glenn McCaffrey and the efficiency of the contractors, Annvale Construction.

She also thanked Mr David Esler of Esler Designs, who constructed the magnificent stained-glass window depicting Handel’s Messiah and Miss Elaine Cunningham of Hardy Hill Nurseries for her tasteful landscaping at the front of the Bateman Suite.

The Suite, which comprises a main hall, toilets and store, was the venue for the supper after a service of Harvest Thanksgiving in the Parish Church, where Bishop Harold Miller was the speaker.
