The rush-hour traffic was at its worst this morning as snow wreaked havoc and one school was even forced to close.
One local motorist spoke of particular issues around Hillsborough as the slushy roads caused problems for the morning rush.
“It wasn’t too bad in Kinallen but it took mne half an hour to get from the Dromore Road in Hillsborough to the Sprucefield roundabout,” said the driver.
“I think the radio mentioned there were broken down lorries holding it up.
“Hillsborough was absolutely gridlocked. There were school busses there that didn’t seem like they were getting anywhere and students wandering about.”
Meanwhile, Moira was brought to a stand-still, with northbound traffic queued right back through Magheralin towards Dollingstown.
“Thankfully I was going the other direction but it was the biggest queue I’ve ever seen going into Moira,” said another morning driver.
One school’s pupils got some good news this morning though as Anahilt Primary School was forced to close due to problems with their heating.
The only choice for their students, take a lie in or build a snow-man?
