A number of local householders recently contacted Lagan Valley MLA Robbie Butler to express concerns about traffic diversions, bus services and other issues.

In response to the residents’ complaints, the UUP man organised a site meeting with Phoenix Gas officials at Magherconluce Road.

“I have been given assurances by Phoenix that they will endeavour to provide greater clarity around diversions,” Mr Butler said

“I can also confirm that the bus pick up point on Pound Burn is to be relocated to Lakeland Road.”

He added: “Residents were concerned about local access and what efforts have been made to keep the road open during peak times such as school runs. Due to the scale of works, it is difficult to keep the road open at all times, however at my insistence Phoenix Gas have agreed that the site supervisor will be clearly identifiable and on hand to facilitate local residents with access.”

Whilst recognising the “considerable agitation” the works have caused, Mr Butler said he has been assured that they are “due to be completed by early December.”
