Dromara’s Ruth Gillespie was runner-up in the ‘Apprentice of the Year’ category at the recent NIE Apprentice Awards ceremony celebrating Northern Ireland Electricity’s apprentices and training instructors.
Some 90 apprentices and instructors were nominated by NIE colleagues.
NIE Managing Director Joe O’Mahony said: “This was a great opportunity to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our apprentices and training team. I’d like to congratulate Ruth and all of our runners up and winners today. We have been developing our own apprentices for over 40 years. . . Today it has been my pleasure to present these awards that recognise the efforts of our apprentices who are the future of our business.”
Ruth said: “This has been a great day and it means a lot to me to come as a runner-up in this category.
“I’d like to thank everyone who nominated me and to my training instructors for all of their support. I really enjoy my apprenticeship and hope to complete as a Metering Operative later this year.”
