Park to be used for veterans' parade

The council's Leisure and Community Development Committee has approved a request from the Northern Ireland Veterans Association to use Wallace Park for a parade and service to mark the 50th anniversary of Operation Banner - the British Armed Forces' operation in Northern Ireland from August 1969 to July 2007.

The event is expected to take place in the Lisburn park in mid-August 2019.

Committee members agreed that council officers should now meet with the NI Veterans Association to consider relevant issues surrounding the organisation of the event, such as traffic and parking, and report back to the committee.
