John Miller said the event had been a great success, despite the inclement weather.

“We’d like to thank the members and officers of Lisburn District and those beyond the district. Also the bands in attendance, Goldsprings True Defenders, Noel Clarke Memorial, Purple Star Shankill Road, South Belfast Young Conquerors, and Pride of Ballymacash’s colour party. Last but not least, we’d like to thank the PSNI and Loyal People’s Protest members for marshalling the parade.”

He added: “The parade passed off peacefully as expected and it was enjoyed by all those taking part, with plenty of support from the public.”

Paying tribute to the organisers, Ulster Covenant Memorial LOL 1984 posted on Facebook: “It was great to see St Patrick’s Day marked in a manner which is dignified, and observant of the fact this man brought Christianity here.”
