A local teenager has been getting some hands on work experience in the construction sector by helping out with the extension project at LaganView Enterprise Centre.

Jack McCutcheon, from Old Warren, is currently studying Construction at People 1st, Lisburn.

Through Resurgam Trust’s Big Lottery Empowering Youth Project, the 17-year-old secured a placement with OB Construction to assist with the work on the LaganView Enterprise Centre extension, and the building of the new youth centre on the old West Lisburn facility site.

Director of Resurgam Trust, Adrian Bird, said: “We felt it was very important to include local young people in the building of our two projects. We’ve always had an ethos of using young people in our projects, because not only does it develop their skills but also gives them a real sense of ownership of the project they are working on.”

The keys of the new Resurgam 3D youth centre should be handed over in the next few days, while work on the LaganView extension is due to be completed in March.
