Beechlawn School have a new defibrillator thanks to the fundraising efforts of Strand Bikers Motorcycle club.

The local bikers carried out a Motorcycle Run last month in the Mournes and raised a fantastic £300.

Members from the club visited the school recently to present the pupils and staff with the cheque.

Pupils also got to see the club’s motorcycles and Strand members attended Beechlawn’s Harvest Assembly.

This is the third defibrillator the club have bought for a school and they now aim to get another one for Beechlawn.

Club president Stephen ‘Leo’ Leathem said: “We have raised money for a number of defibralloters.

“The event was a huge success, a club member has a son who attends the school so we were happy to present them with this cheque to purchace a much needed defibrillator.”

Principal Barbara Green offered thanks to the club for their fundraising efforts,

She said: “The school is so pleased to have received this generous donation.

“We appreciate all the effort involved by the members of the road club.
