A 49-year-old man from Youghal in Co Cork was remanded in custody when he appeared before Londonderry Magistrates Court on Monday, charged with disorderly behaviour at Altnagelvin Hospital on Saturday.

In court Nicholas Roper sang ‘Born Free’ and refused to answer questions and kept singing. Prior to this he had taken off his clothes in a police vehicle and refused to enter the court.

During an attempted bail application Roper kept singing, so the District Judge ruled bail had not been applied for and remanded him back to the court on July 20.
