Trevor Lunn is set to defend his Lagan Valley seat, after the well-known Alliance MLA was again selected to stand in the next Assembly election.
An MLA since 2007, Mr Lunn said he had worked consistently to build a future free from sectarianism, intimidation and social exclusion.
He said this was a job he would continue in the next Assembly term if he was re-elected.
The local MLA said his key priorities for the next Assembly term include furthering his work on education, policing and jobs.
“I am delighted and honoured to accept the nomination and look forward to the challenge of another election campaign,” he said.
“Alliance is the only party clear on the rule of law, financially responsible and socially progressive, offering the voters a clear alternative to the divisive politics consistently demonstrated by other Parties.
“It’s also clear that our message of a shared future for Northern Ireland has resonated with local people, with more than ever stepping forward to support me in last year’s Westminster campaign.
“The way forward for Northern Ireland is the shared future goal that Alliance proudly promotes and I’m looking forward to again hitting the streets of Lagan Valley, with a strong team behind me, to take this message to the voters.”
The Assembly elections are expected to take place in May 2016.
