Derriaghy Youth Club visited Stormont recently.

AS part of a year-long program of youth engagement events, looking at culture, politics and heritage, Derriaghy Youth Club visited Stormont for the opportunity to talk to Jonathan Craig MLA about his role as a member of the Northern Ireland Assembly and how Stormont was relevant to them.

Derriaghy Youth Worker, Jim Mclaughlan, said, “The events to date that young people from Derriaghy have attended have given them a clear sense of the heritage, culture and history of Northern Ireland and how their voices and opinions matter.

“I know that for the young people that visited Stormont and had the opportunity to question their local MLA Jonathan Craig it was something they found enlightening and it gave them the chance to raise issues of concern directly with him.”

Mr Craig said, “I found the engagement with the young people of Derriaghy to be informative and a great opportunity for me to understand the issues that are directly affecting them.”
