Thieves raid canteen charity boxes

HEARTLESS thieves have stolen a charity box and emptied a second one at a local food outlet.

Some time between 3pm on Tuesday, 22 January and 8am on Wednesday, 23 January, entry was forced to the Top Notch canteen in Banbridge Enterprise Centre, Scarva Road.

A sum of cash was taken as well as the Marie Curie charity box.

A member of staff at Top Notch said she was disgusted by the theft. “The charity boxes meant a lot to us as we started collecting for Marie Curie when our Cook died from cancer and then our boss passed away from it too just before Christmas.

“It’s just terrible that someone would do that. We are shocked.”

Police in Banbridge are appealing to anyone who noticed any activity around the canteen to contact them in Banbridge on 0845 600 8000. If you prefer to provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
