CONSTRUCTION students from South Eastern Regional College (SERC) Lisburn, recently took part in the CIOB student challenge in Letterkenny and finished third.

The team included Sara Frazer and Simon Gawith from Moira, Aaron Hamilton from Castlewellen and Reuben Pilibossian from Hillsborough.

Seven teams of four students, representing colleges and universities, were given a challenge consisting of a construction scenario involving a number of exhaustive exercises, all within a four hour time slot.

Their solutions had to be produced in a detailed written report followed by a presentation to industry experts.

The judging panel consisted of David Little, of the National House Building Council, Phil Ward from Xtratherm and John Joe Doherty from the Northern Ireland Housing Executive.
