YOU’LL be seeing less of our local politicians, Jonathan Craig MLA, Cllr Andrew Ewing and Cllr Alan Carlisle as they plan to lose weight over the coming months for a good cause.

The men hope to drop the pounds and any money they raise will be going to the Mayor’s charity Stepping Stones.

Mr Craig said, “I know this will not be easy, but with the Mayor’s Charity benefiting from our efforts over the next few months, I know the work that Stepping Stones do will help Andrew, Alan and I to stay motivated during the difficult time and make us even more determined to lose the pounds.”

He added, “Another motivating factor for us will be the prospect of our political colleagues losing the pounds as they dig deep with every pound that Andrew, Allan and I lose.

“With the Christmas dinners well behind us and the lighter nights ahead, we are looking forward to the challenge ahead and hopefully losing the stones but gaining the pounds for a wonderful charity.”

The Mayor of Lisburn, Alderman William Leathem said, “I would like to thank my three friends – Jonathan, Andrew and Alan for agreeing to support my charity, Stepping Stones, which is a locally based charity that is having a massive impact on the lives of young people with a learning disability.  I would encourage everyone to support my colleagues as they embark on their weight loss challenge and help my charity.”

Anyone looking to donate can contact the Mayor’s Secretary on 028 9250 9331 or phone the DUP office on 028 9266 8378.
