Praise for local medal winner

SPORTS Minister Carál Ní Chuilín has congratulated local athlete Lucy Best and her team mates on their return from the Special Olympics World Winter Games.

Alpine skiers Lucy Best from Lisburn, Ryan Hill, from Richill and Rosalind Connolly, from Portadown, come home with a total of five medals and three place ribbons.

Minister Ní Chuilín said: “It is always a pleasure to welcome local athletes back after competing at the highest levels. Our Special Olympics athletes left for the Games as ambassadors for their sport, for their community and for themselves. Today they return from South Korea as champions.

“Ryan, Rosalind and Lucy can be immensely proud of what they have achieved. So too can their coaches, friends, family and everyone who has been involved in their journey to medal success. They have also given joy to their supporters and those of us at home who cheered on their efforts.”
