Moira engineer recognised with national award

A LOCAL heating engineer from Clarehill Plastics in Moira, has been recognised in the National Awards for Excellence.

James Kelly collected a runners-up award in the Trainee of the Year category at the 2012 OFTEC Awards.

He was nominated by other registered technicians for his exemplary technical ability and aptitude and collected his award from OFTEC Training Manager, David Knipe, at the high profile awards ceremony held in Manchester.

Commenting on his award, James from Clarehill Plastics, an independent manufacturer of bunded oil tanks and fuel tanks said: “I’m honoured to have been nominated on a national level for my work, especially as OFTEC has 10,000 registered businesses and technicians throughout the UK and Ireland.”
The awards are run by OFTEC, who represent the oil heating and cooking industry. Over 170 guests attended the OFTEC Awards for Excellence ceremony held at the Central Convention Centre in Manchester.

Overall there were eight categories of awards, with installers, engineers, trainees and manufacturers being recognised for high standards.

Sponsors of the awards included Grant UK, Clarehill, Riello, Worcester Bosch and Trade Direct. The event followed the Oil and Renewable Energy Show which took place at the same venue earlier this month. Visitors to the show were able to see how oil can be integrated with renewables to provide off gas main customers with a cost effective and environmentally friendly way to heat their homes.
