Man pleads guilty to murdering woman in Lisburn

A MAN has been jailed for life after he pleaded guilty to murdering a woman in his home.

Kaspars Stamers, 29, pleaded guilty to the charge of murdering Ksenjia Vorosilina.

The 28-year-old woman was found stabbed to death in a flat in Stamers’ house in Warren Grove in Lisburn on May 28, 2012.

Stamers appeared in the dock of Craigavon Crown Court, sitting in Belfast, on Friday.

Mr Justice Weir told Stamers that given his guilty plea there is “only one sentence which is permitted by law and that’s the sentence of life imprisonment”.

He told Stamers he would fix the minimum tariff he must serve before becoming eligible to have his case referred to the parole commissioners in May.
