Lisburn students have a Cinemagic experience with James Nesbitt

SOUTH Eastern Regional College (SERC) Media students from the Lisburn Campus recently took part in a questions and answers workshop with Northern Ireland’s much loved James Nesbitt.

The workshop was delivered as part of Northern Ireland’s Cinemagic event at the Odyssey Cinema, Belfast. Cinemagic provided the opportunity for young budding film industry stars from across Northern Ireland to showcase their short films.
James Nesbitt who has just finished filming in Peter Jackson’s much anticipated December release ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’ took time out to speak to the Level 2 Media students. The students asked James a variety of questions and got tips on how to develop a career in the film and television industry.
James told the students: “Work hard and get involved in all areas of your Media courses. To be an actor or work in any area of a film or TV means you need to know about every process of making a film or TV show including lighting, the crew, producing and scriptwriting. Be prepared to work long hours as it’s all about working hard.”
This industry day trip was provided as part of a wider programme of activities for the Level 2 Media students, to help give them the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their chosen career.
SERC provides a range of full and part time courses designed to give students ‘the edge’ through industry projects and a range of work placements.
